People and small business owners of Illinois, prepare your selves for a hefty tax increase. A 67% personal income tax and 46% business hike was passed early this morning. As a resident of IL this does not come as a surprise since Pat Quinn already made it clear that he was intent on raising taxes when he took office.
Hard working residents of the state that are already having tough times can now count on state government on making things more difficult in the coming years unless something changes. It is my opinion that other options were not explored or used before resorting to drastic tax increases, it shouldn’t come as shock if residents and business’s move from Illinois in the years to come.
Neighboring states have made mention that they could lower business tax and entice business owners from IL to jump state into say Wisconsin. As business owners have already been struggling who could blame them if they were to move to stay afloat?
Seems to me like quite a stupid move by PQ and our government, keep reading after the cut for more of my thoughts. If anyone in the government is reading please feel free to answer some of the following questions.
• Budget cuts!!! Please why are law makers and other government employees making over $200,000 a year and that is not including bonuses? For a bunch of people that are suppose to represent the people they are sure doing a shitty job. I can’t imagine many people considered tax hikes in the middle of a recession a good idea. Do you people really need to make that much money for “work” when you have people working 2-3 jobs barely scraping by with $30,000.
• Revise Social programs! Illinois gives way to much money away to people who are not in truly in need! This goes back to an old post, if you want help work for it!
• Get rid of the corruption in Illinois! When you can go just about anywhere and mention you are from IL and the first that pops into their mind is corruption you know you have problems. We give contracts to “friends” of lawmakers instead of going on the lowest/best bid process that normal businesses would practice.
• Find something else to tax first! Find a few more suitable ways to get tax moneys. We have casinos, and tons of bars perhaps tax them a bit more?
• Promote business to come to our state rather than scare them away. Raising business tax is going to scare business away not bring them in.
• To go along with business promote better decision making by cities. To often you hear of a large business being turned away or discouraged to open up by a group of government officials or misinformed citizens raising a stink.

Coming to a Illinois year you! "Raising Taxes"
As a Illinois resident it doesn't come as much of a surprise when the news came out that taxes are going to be increased by as much as 75%, for a long while Illinois has been struggling to stay ahead of the massive debt that was piling up now thanks to the years and years of political corruption that has and still plagues the state.
I can definitely understand where Pat Q. and his guys are coming from being in debt is a crappy deal especially for all the citizens of the state but hey man we have been broke as a joke for years before you came around! How about before you punish the hard working individuals you explore other options?

- Trim the budget and do less with more. This is a fairly common business practice, why not give it a try?
- Reduce pension and bonus funds. Does Mr. Hairy Dick need a $500,00+ bonus each year? Pretty sure he doesn't and he can pass on the new yacht he was looking at buying this year!
- Make free money work! Here is an idea all those on social programs, in which tax payers are handing out money to those who feel entitled make, make them work!!!!! For every one person on a state or other funded program that actually is going through a hardship and needs it there is 10+ that are screwing the system! We all go to work to earn money to pay our bills why not make those who are being handed a check because they are "less fortunate" work for a change. If we are paying them find something for them to do!
- Find other taxable items, medicinal Marijuana. Now some may find this extremely radical but hear me out. It is fact that there are a number of illness and injury that cause a great deal of pain and to deal with said pain individuals have come to rely on medication to help them. Problem with that is alot of the "good" stuff is a narcotic substance that in the case of some may be addictive and in many cases lose its usefulness over time requiring an large dosage in turn becoming dangerous. Add to that all the other things that go along with taking prescription medicine allergies, adverse reactions, and so forth. Legalize marijuana for medicinal use tax the pot and call it a day. Yes it is more complicated that I made it seem but this is not a POT post so I will save that for my next one.
